Radiant Plasma Spark Generator
The RPG 4700 Pulsed Direct Current Ignition Module consists of a proprietary electronic circuit that is designed to convert a standard low current high voltage ignition spark to a high energy plasma spark at frequencies exceeding 16,000 RPM with largest ignition kernel compared to any performance ignition system available on the market today.
The RPG 4700 Ignition Module is designed to work with any conventional ignition coil on any distributor based ignition system, single cylinder or V twin engine, from portable generators to high performance drag racing engines. The conventional ignition electronics and coil (OEM or after market performance ignition modules) generates a low current high voltage discharge which allows the RPG 4700 ignition module to deliver 414 millijoules of energy directly into the discharge. The high energy plasma spark is much more powerful than a conventional spark as the surge amps exceeds 20 amps (compared to milliamps of high performance ignition systems such as MSD). The extremely short duration of the Pulsed Direct Current Ignition method also minimizes plug wear while igniting a much larger portion of the air/fuel mixture, causing the flame front to rapidly expand in the cylinder than is possible with a conventional spark. The end result is a faster, more uniform, and more complete burn of the air/fuel mixture, reducing emissions, increasing efficiency, horsepower and mileage.
The conversion of electrical energy into a high energy plasma spark by the RPG 4700 Pulsed Direct Current Ignition Module is highly efficient (over 97%) consuming not more than 30 watts in contrast to the low efficiency of conventional performance ignition systems such as MSD that require up to 250 watts of power in order to achieve similar results. The RPG 4700 ignition module can generate a high energy plasma spark using a 9 volt square battery that has a peak drain current of 500mA. An unbelievable 4.5 watts, a testament to the level of professional engineering that went into the RPG 4700 build that simply blows the competition away. (Please note for optimal performance we recommend a power source with an input voltage 12 to 18 VDC and min 3 amps continuous current)
Our testing has shown that hooking up multiple RPG 4700 ignition modules in parallel results in even more gains in efficiency and is the way to go for racing setups.
